Manchester City x MattB Customs: Reinventing the Player of the Month Award

For the 2024-25 season, we teamed up with Manchester City to reinvent their Player of the Month award. The brief: make it more unique and personal than the standard silver trophy every other club hands out.

Best fit for: a sports club or brand wanting to turn a routine award or trophy into something genuinely personal and collectible.

We created a hand-painted club football using a globe as the base design - a nod to the award's sponsor, Etihad Airways.

A design that tracked each player's career

Every ball was personalised to the individual winner, with the design tracking the countries and clubs they'd played for on the way to Manchester City.

Presented on the pitch

Each award was presented to the winning player on the pitch, designed to be displayed in their trophy cabinet at home. It was really well received by every winner - not just for standing out from the usual trophy, but for the time and care taken to personalise it to their own career.

The winners

Recipients across the season included Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and Rodri.
